2007 was another great year (and our 20th Season of operation!) and here are links to some of the photos from then.

To make it easier to find your photo, check the quick links on the left, and if you see your group mentioned, or someone who was here when you were, then click on the link and it will take you straight to that section.

FIRST BARRA OF THE SEASON

Mick & Lee arrived back with Mick's dad Ray, who last visited Sweers with Mick nearly eleven years ago. They left Lee to unpack while they raced down to 'Barra Bay' to see what they could find. Several strikes and one hook-up. So today they went back down again and here is Ray with his trophy - a beautiful 75cm ocean barra.... which we are going to cook up for dinner tonight! (Have you booked your trip to Sweers yet?!?!?)

And while we were posting these photos to the web - HE CAUGHT AN EVEN BIGGER ONE!

Well done, Ray

BEGINNER'S LUCK?!

A couple of interesting photos here... first of all, here is Brian West, who is visiting Sweers for the first time with regular guest Randy Katsoolis of Griffith, NSW. Brian has never been fishing in his life before. This is his first ever time fishing. The guys bought a $70 rod in Mount Isa on the way up here for him to use. They now regret ever letting him near it.

Brian just caught a 20 Kg Spanish Mackerel. That is an equal record for the season - only two 20kg Mackerel caught this year! Well done Brian! He fought the fish for 20-30 minutes while the guys shook their heads muttering "You've lost him!". But he brought it in and here is the photo to prove it. This is very late in the season for Spanish Mackerel, so the guys will try this evening to match Brian's tally!

We also have another first-time visitor - Erin from Canberra (by way of Tassie and Canada..) and she produced a fine pair of Reds, which she generously donated for the other guests to eat as she is vegetarian! Thanks Erin! They were yummy!

THE HAFNERS ARE BACK AGAIN!

Regular visitors Ray & Judy Hafner had a memorable first visit to Sweers when Ray's favourite rod was smashed to pieces by a giant mackerel (click here and scroll down for that fishing story!) - this year it is Judy's turn to hook the big one - here she is with a 6kg Giant Trevally, caught on a 10kg line - well done, Judy!

FINAL FLING

Well, like all good things, the 2007 fishing season came to an end, and appropriately for our 20th birthday party, it was one of the best ever, with some fine catches from the last guests for 2007. Here's the 'Get Stretched' crew from Normanton etc - relaxing in the bar after a big day out!

And our old favourite, Rodney Prescott, came back again to be the first guest to charter the brand new light sportsfishing vessel 'Salomon'. This is our new 5.99m NQ Catamaran which was built by Borger Alloy in Ingham. It will be available for guests to charter for local reef fishing, offshore fishing or overnight trips - all weather permitting of course. Rodney thought it was pretty good....here he is back from the maiden voyage:

The Burdekin Boys give the new vessel the thumbs up!       Cap'n Mick with a happy crew!

There will be more details on the new boat soon - watch this space!

(For more photos of what happened in between the start and finish of the 2007 season, see the links on the top left!)
