TEX’S TRUFFLE BIRTHDAY CAKE

 Here’s a cake with a difference – a great one for Valentine’s Day, or a Birthday – or to use up all those Ferrero Rocher chocolates you got for Christmas!

You Need: 

 3 pkts Truffles – mix Ferrero Rocher, Bacci etc.

23cm high piece of polysterene foam (or a loaf of stale unsliced white bread!)

Alfoil

Toothpicks

100g White Milk Melts

Cookie cutter shape – heart or star shape

Small ribbon bows to decorate.

 

Method:

 Use the foam or load to cut a cone shape (so it will end up looking like a Truffle Tree…)

Wrap alfoil around the ‘tree’.

Push toothpicks at  regular intervals all around the ‘tree’. You might have to break the toothpicks in half to make them short enough for the top part.

Gently push the truffles onto the toothpicks.

Melt the White Choc Melts (in microwave is easiest) and spread over a sheet of alfoil. Let it set a little but before set hard, use cookie cutters to cut shapes. Chill til firm then peel off shapes and use a drop of melted chocolate to ‘glue’ the cachous to the centre for decoration.  More melted chocolate can glue them to the tree. And the same for the little bits of decorative ribbon/bows.

Alternatively, you could pipe chocolate letters spelling out Happy Birthday or your partner’s name…

Have fun and enjoy this unusual cake with a freshly brewed coffee and a glass of tawney port!
