We also had some Celebrity Guests this year...

(No, Paris Hilton is not back, she is still serving time on a prison island somewhere in the great outdoors)........Paris is still lugging that ball and chain around....

This was a true-blue Aussie celebrity - Channel 7's fishing guru Scotty Hillier! Scott and Dean Miller, both presenters on the popular television lifestyle programs 'Creek to Coast', 'Queensland Weekender' and 'The Great South East' - were here with cameraman Chris and producer Karen, filming a segment for their Gulf program which went to air in June 2008.

The Channel 7 film crew...               Cameraman Chris doing his thing...                Scottie Hillier doing HIS thing!

That's the production team - Dean, Karen, Scott & Chris from TPD Media, and that camera Chris is clutching so tightly is worth a small fortune! On the right is Scotty Hillier about to 'bend his tip' on our new charter boat MV Salomon. The boys caught plenty of fish, and when Karen wasn't busy organising the film crew, she was helping out in the Sweers kitchen...

Karen preparing a yummy fruit platter for lunch!

And just to finish off this update - here is a rare photo: The Dutch and Australian flags flying together on Sweers Island, to celebrate the resort's 20th birthday on May 5th 2008...

Dutch & Australian flags celebrating Sweers 20th birthday...

What about the chopper, you ask? Well, it was one of a group of 7 that arrived en route from a SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) Awareness safari to the Red Centre of Australia. The choppers all had the SIDS symbol of red noses on them, and they created quite a spectacle, all lined up in front of the guest cabins! The group had taken part in a Guinness World Record attempt for the most civilian helicopters in formation - raising funds and awareness for SIDS in the process, as well as having a great flying safari around Australia. The group was comprised of 6 Robinson R44s and a Eurocopter EC120. There are more photos of them (incl. large format) on our Aircraft page, but here are a couple more...

Parked right outside their rooms!          35 people for dinner that night!          Choppers everywhere!

Well, that just about brings us up to date. The older pre-Easter photos are below, and from now on we'll return to the old format of adding the new photos to the top of the page. Thanks for being patient while we had the computer dramas, and a special thanks to Carsten in Norway, for posting emergency info to the site during that time. It really is a small world - Carsten is a descendant of Salomon Sweers' niece Judith, and the author of our book 'Sweers Islands Unveiled' - have you got your copy yet? You can order by email, and read all about how Sweers Island got its name, and the interesting history of early Dutch exploration in the Gulf.
