THE GRAMS WERE HERE AGAIN!

Apologies to the Grams crew for this late posting - but their photos are worth waiting for! Last year we had the Dave Ind group with their hostie Griselda...this year a couple of the guys are back with a new crew and boy, did they know how to fish! Here is a selection of photos from the guys - in no particular order, and the names have been changed to protect the innocent (?!)

The guys contributed a selection so that we could present the story of their 2008 visit... click on the thumbnails below for a larger view...

Daybreak departure from Youn...     Lunch stop at Longreach...     "Are we there ye?!"

They began in Young with a dawn departure, lunched beside the Jumbo in Longreach, flying across Australia in three Trinidad TB20 aircraft (more photos will appear on the Aircraft page). This year the team was a little different and we all missed Griselda who is now raising funds for the RFDS somewhere out west!

On arrival at Sweers, there was some concern as to whether an ASIC (airport security clearance card) was required (Not!)...but the planes were soon parked, gear unpacked in their rooms, and the boys were in the boats, ready to go fishing...

Thar she blows!     Airport Security??     The fleet     No snorers allowed in this cabin!     Let's go fishing!

It didn't take long for the crew to rack up a fair tally of fish! Here is a selection...

Beautiful Coral Trout...     Craig - the fishing machine!     Another nice Coral Trout     Look what they caught before brekky! (Queensfish)     Be still!     How did we end up in this situation?     And a nice Spanish Mackerel...

It certainly kept them busy at the filleting table...  And it seems to have been hard for some to stay awake at the bar after dinner... but was all worth it at the end of the day...

Is he really asleep?    Glen with a nice Red Emperor...

Well done, guys! See you all next year!

You betcha!     Team Trinidad.

JOCK'S BACK - WITH A BIG MACK!

Jock & Sue Dyason, from Mansfield in Victoria, first visited Sweers Island 20 years ago! And they seriously do not look a day older! It is just that the fish they catch get bigger! Jock caught this monster mackerel the other day - check it out...

And here is a photo of us celebrating their 20th Anniversary and Sweers' 20th Season, with a picnic dinner in the Enchanted Forest...

SKILL & EXPERIENCE WINS OUT OVER YOUNG BLOKES...

Tonight was a great night for Queensland...30-nil in the State of Origin - what more can we say...except to tell you that before the match we enjoyed a lovely dinner of fish and chips, cooked by Lee and caught yesterday evening by guest George Robinson from Moe, Victoria. George is 85 years old and he caught his 11kilo Spanish Mackerel on a 30-year-old rod fitted with a Mitchell egg-beater reel and a $4.70 K-mart lure! Well done, George!

That's 85-years-old George with his Big Mack!
