BIRTHDAY BOY Who is the luckiest 40-yr old in Australia? Gerard Scammell! His wife Belinda shouted him a trip to Sweers Island for his birthday! Gerard, Belinda, and 11 yr old Katelyn, had an absolute ball, caught some fantastic fish, and Lee baked a delicious sponge cake with all the trimmings - and we can only guess that Gerry's birthday wish, as he blew out the candles might be for another trip back to Sweers! But he did manage to blow them all out in one go - so he is in with a good chance! Check out the great parrot fish (Venus Tuskfish) that young Katelyn caught...
CYCLONE RODNEY BLOWS IN AGAIN This time Rodney brought his son in law Paul, and some of his mates. Charlie and Lilly dog were delighted, because these guys really DO know how to throw or kick a ball!!! Charlie & Lilly made sure they kept them in training too, while they weren't out fishing...Lots of good fish caught, lots of fun had by all.
Mark on the left and Paul on the right, with a lovely big Fingermark...
Andrew films Mick and Rodney in the new 'Mule' carrying the boxes of fish down to the airstrip. On their last night, there was the usual Terry's Awards Ceremony - with all the guests getting to join in, when Andrew went round and put zinc cream on everyone! Even Lilly had some on her nose! Also here this week we have special visitors from Sydney - Joy King, who is the Great Great Grand-daughter of James Sandrock, the Customs Collector on Sweers Island in the 1860s! Joy has visited Sweers several times now, earlier with her mother Dulcie, but this time accompanied by her travel buddy Isabella. Joy does wonderful Cross-stitch, last visit she gave us an exquisite embroidery of HMCS Victoria, which visited the island in 1861, while searching for Burke & Wills. Gunner James Frost, was accidentally killed and is still buried on the island. This trip, she brought a beautiful picture of our old dog Ella. Many guests will remember Ella! Here is Joy and her work of art: Thank you so much, Joy! |
