2005 season off to a good start...

The 2005 season's first guests arrived a few days early, thanks to Cyclone Ingrid, but they're not regretting missing the rest of their itinerary with a 3 days of fantastic fishing under their belts.

The catches included cod, sweetlip, coral trout, stripey, fingermark, scarlet sea perch, queenfish and even a hammerhead shark!

The group of 8 from Kempsey, NSW, flew up with seasoned guide Eddie Mazieka who has been visiting Sweers since before the resort officially opened!

That's Paul Bianco hooking onto                    And among a mixed catch is a magnificent

a hammerhead shark!                                Spotted Scale Sea Perch (Fingermark Bream)

Above is Paul Bianco looking pleased                      And above is Chris Voase with a

with his lovely Scarlet Sea Perch.                              magnificent  Queenfish.

It doesn't get much fresher than this! Mick Flanigan oils up the Barbie while Chris Osborne cooks a lovely Coral Trout...

And "Saucy" Don Burns keeps the place clean and tidy!

AND THERE WAS ONE VERY UNUSUAL FISHING STORY...

Paul and Chris  hooked this big cod......which had hooked this little Blue Swimmer Crab...

Which was hooked in turn by Mick!

Note - green hat, shirt and Guinness - especially for St. Patrick's Day Party...

Good Food, Good Company, a few beers and great Music...

The only hiccup during the whole fishing trip was Paul's run-in with the local police!!!

And this year seems to be the Year of the Reddie - some other guests were delighted with their trip to Sweers - "We heard it was good, but not this good" - when they bagged the following fish, having tagged and released numerous others.

That's Steven from Mareeba filleting his catch - note how he has cut out the "wings" - nothing wasted here - and a very tasty part of the fish (many would say the best part) and delicious cooked on the BBQ or steamed in the oven...
