THE COLD SNAP CONTINUES...

Unbelievable. With wind chill taken into account, the temperatures these mornings are not much above 10 C...  So Lyn & Lee have got the knitting needles out and here they are in their new high fashion leg warmers...

Don't laugh - at least we are WARM!

However the Mackerel are hungry and as the wind generally drops right off in the afternoons, guests are still getting out and very pleased with what they are catching.

IN SPITE OF THE COLD...

The skies cleared, the sun came out, though the temperatures remain in the 'teens' and the fish are still hesitant to venture out from their own 'doonas' - but in spite of this, guests are making the most of the NQ sunshine. Here is the Redpath family in action:

Young Sam catching Bream off the beach...                             You don't want to eat one of these!!!

Sam Redpath catching Bream off the beach!           Tom shows us a poisonous Toadfish, this one is bloated up (Pufferfish) - deadly if you eat them, so DO NOT FILLET THESE!

Sam gets ready to fillet his catch.....so Dad (Bruce) shows him how it's done...

and here is Joel Battle, showing his grandad Tex how it's done!

Joel hooks a big one!     How heavy is it???     Oooh - it's heavy!!!

BREAKING RECORDS OF A DIFFERENT SORT...

The cold weather snap of June 2007 will be remembered for many reasons. It rained. It got really seriously cold. Events all over NQ have been cancelled. Many guests shortened their stay due to the impossible fishing conditions. And the lowest temperature ever was recorded on Sweers Island - an unbelievable 12.5 C - two nights in a row! And the day in between, the temperature never got above 13.7 C - yes, that was the daily Maximum, and the BOM computer asked us: "Are you sure?" - we were! Frozen! However, Lyn & Lee made the most of it and are getting maximum wear out of their Ugg Boots. Even Tex & Mick are keeping their tootsies warm...
