EARLY MACK ATTACK!

Jason Hounsell has just emailed us back some photos of the fish caught by his group last week (the annual joint group of Rob Pierce from Ingham and Jim Liston from Atherton) so here they are:

Rob Pierce with a lovely parrot (Venus Tuskfish)

That's Rob Pierce with a lovely parrotfish (Venus Tuskfish) - and unlike southern 'parrots', these ones are really good eating.

Rob with a huge Spanish Mackerel          can you see the weight on the scales?

And Rob again, with a huge Spanish Mackerel - I think from memory, it was 14kg?

SUPER-SIZE ME!

Our Mick has done it again! And in serious STYLE! Mick Davies from Sweers Island arrived back with a massive mackerel weighing in at 21kg - this is heavier than last year's record catch so it looks like being a bumper season for the Big Macks this year as the main season for this pelagic fish is June-July. Book in now or miss out on the record catch for 2008!

And we should weigh that to be sure, to be sure, shouldn't we?!

Yep - it is definitely 21 kg!

FAST FOOD = BIG MACKS

It is definitely that time of year again! With full house this weekend (May 17+) today's guests are all Smiles and Sore Hands, as they pose for photos of the perfect day's fishing.

Leo with a nice Tuskfish and Fingermark

That's Leo Mazzer, from Ingham, with a lovely Parrotfish (Venus Tuskfish) and a Fingermark. Well done on Day One!

Rob with his 13 kg Spanish Mackerel

And that's Rob Pearce with his 13kg Spanish Mackerel. What a whopper!

Janelle with her catch of the day!

That's Janelle from Melbourne, via Mount Isa with a lovely Reddie and Coral trout.. She caught these with the handlines provided in the boats, using squid for bait - and managed to hook a 2m shark as well!

Dick, Nick and...

Regulars Dick Wilson, with son Nick and wife Margaret came to visit again from Horsham, Victoria, and had a terrific week's fishing, here is just one photo of their catch of the day...

Nick and Dick with their fine catch of Mackerel.

MACK ATTACK!

Yes, it's that time of year again! The warm summer waters of the Gulf of Carpentaria are finally beginning to cool down, bringing on the pelagic fish. And just to whet your appetite - here is our Mick, with the record catch so far this year... 15kg Spanish Mackerel...so get yourself to Sweers and see if you can beat it!

Record catch so far - 15kg Spaniard...
