Sweers Island Resort is a secluded oasis, offering a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, where guests can enjoy an ice-cold beer or sparkling wine whilst watching the stunning sunsets in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Our open-air dining and bar facility is like no other with beautiful ocean views and peaceful outback vibes.

Here you will enjoy fantastic cuisine prepared by our in-house chef/cook while relaxing with your friends and family.

Our resort accommodates guests in affordable and comfortable cabins that are positioned front and centre with gorgeous ocean views.

There is easy access to all facilities and communal spaces via designated pathways that connect the cabins across the property.

Cabins typically accommodate two to six guests, include an open-plan layout, with air conditioning and fans.

Some cabins have ensuites whilst the others all have access to a modern amenities block which consist of a shower, toilet and bathroom vanity.  All linen and towels are supplied.

Sweers is a birdwatchers paradise, with nearly 100 species of birds recorded so far. With no feral animals on the island, the birds are very tame and easy to study. Bush Stone-curlews wander around the dining area at night and Bustards (Plain Turkey) are often seen during the day time.

The Rose-crowned Fruit Dove, which was previously unrecorded in this area, nests on the island and can often be seen near the Resort area. Sea-Eagles and Ospreys nest here and Brolgas can often be seen performing their courtship dance.

Our logo bird - The White-bellied Sea Eagle - soars majestically; the Rose-crowned Fruit Dove
is parrot-bright in its colours; and the Brolgas dance like nobody is watching.

Check out our Bird List
which you can print out and bring with you to "tick off" all the birds you see while you are here!
